Evening Volunteers
Volunteers can help each evening as our shelter opens for guests or on the weekends during our daily door service. Volunteering as an evening volunteer or weekend door volunteer are both great ways to interact face to face with our guests and build relationships with individuals experiencing homelessness.
Our Evening Volunteers help us keep our shelter operations running smoothly at night. Evening Volunteers arrive at 5:30 p.m. and leave at 9:00 p.m. During their shift, Evening Volunteers help staff members serve and clean up dinner, manage the bin room where guests' belongings are stored, and help with any other important tasks.
Evening Volunteers also play a part in building community with our guests through games, conversation, and compassion. If you are interested in becoming an Evening Volunteer, please sign up below.
Evening Volunteer Breakdown:
Age Limit: 18 or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian
Number of of People: 1 — 4
Time: 5:30 p.m. — 9:00 p.m.
Days of the Week: Monday — Sunday
Responsibilities:

Take over Facilitator Role in Facilitator's absence

Build relationships with guests through conversations and games

Assist in cleaning up the common area/bin room

Provide encouragement and community
Our weekend door volunteers help answer the door during our weekend door service, fulfilling requests for essential items like toiletries, socks, and lunches. They may also help pack lunches, receive donations, and generally assist staff. Weekend door volunteers have the opportunity to interact face to face with the community and provide immediate, meaningful relief.
Weekend Door Volunteer Breakdown:
Age Limit: 18 or older unless accompanied by a parent or guardian
Number of of People: 1 — 3
Time: 12p.m.-3p.m.
Days of the Week: Saturday — Sunday
Responsibilities:

Answer the door and fulfill requests for essentials

Build relationships with guest through conversations

Pack lunches and stock supplies

Receive donations
Unfortunately, we cannot take volunteers for court-ordered community service hours at this time.
