Overnight Shelter Program

The Bigger Vision of Athens Overnight Shelter Program provides nightly shelter for up to 36 guests. Potential guests must call 706-340-6062 ext. 2 at 4:00 p.m. to reserve a bed. If you are placed on hold when you call in, then you will be able to speak with the next available staff member. You must be at least 18 years old.

The Bigger Vision Shelter bedroom is a communal living space. We are unable to accept any individuals under the age of 18. Please visit our resources page if you have children with you that need shelter.

Guests who reserve a bed begin the check-in process at 6:00 p.m. and must arrive no later than 8:00 p.m. After being checked in, guests are fed a hot dinner donated by our Meal Provider Volunteers or provided by Bigger Vision. After dinner, guests have the opportunity to socialize, shower, and launder their clothes. During this period, we sometimes have groups in the community come in to give presentations, lead religious or counseling services, or facilitate fun activities. All these activities are always optional, and guests can choose whether or not to participate.

Guests are provided with a continental-style breakfast in the morning before departing the shelter by 7:00 a.m. Guests must call in to reserve a bed each night that they need to stay at the shelter. If you are employed or in a short-term workforce development program and are interested in staying at the shelter continuously while you work towards getting your own housing, visit our Abundant Life Program page.
