Community Impact Program

The Community Impact Program provides a maximum of five guests with continuous shelter for up to six months as they work towards getting their own housing. Accepted applicants will have a guaranteed bed every night without having to call in as well as a place to store their possessions during the day.

All participants must be on one of the following pathways to be considered for the program:

  1. Fully employed or seeking full employment

  2. Participating in job skills training or willing to do so

  3. Awaiting military enlistment

Accepted applicants will set goals for their housing situation, finances, mental health, job skills, and other areas at the start of the program. Participants who go multiple weeks without making any progress may be dismissed from the program. To help participants meet these goals, Bigger Vision requires participants to dedicate one day of the week to helping out at the shelter, meeting with staff members, and meeting with any social services they access. Guests who skip these meetings may be dismissed from the program.

Through our partnership with Athens Technical College, Abundant Life participants can take certified job skills classes in Automotive Collision Repair, Automotive Technology, Certified Nursing Assistance, Healthcare Access, Heating and Air Conditioning, Hospitality, Manufacturing, and Welding Technology. These classes can help participants prepare for employment in better-paying careers.

Participants are required to abide by all the rules in the Guest Handbook and Commpunity Impact Agreement. Those rules include abstaining from illegal substances, and participants are subject to random drug tests while in the program. Participants who fail drug tests have the opportunity to seek substance abuse treatment and return to the program after completing treatment. Participants cannot be intoxicated on the property, and off-property drinking must not impede participants' progress in the program.

Informational sessions occur every Wednesday at 1:00 PM. Applicants must attend a session. If this time does not work for you, please call 706-621-6611 to arrange another time. Attending a session does not guarantee entrance to the program. After attending the information session, applicants must complete an interview with the Executive Director and fill out an application to be considered for the program.
